South Branch Watershed Association (SBWA) held its 14th Annual Spring River Clean Up on Saturday, April 24th. Over 400 community members volunteered their time to clean up 18 sites throughout the watershed. Corporate and volunteer organizations, local environmental commission members, and many concerned citizens and community groups participated in the clean up.
Several tons of trash was removed from local waterways to beautify and clean the river and surrounding land. Interesting items collected at various sites include a water heat, a car door, a bicycle, and other debris. For many of the participants, it was a small way to make a big difference in the communities in which they live, work, and play.
Local sponsors helped to make the event possible.
The event was a great success because of the help of hundreds of volunteers and sponsors!
The following photographs show the volunteers in their cleanup effort.
